HOW IT WORKS

Professional development – ICAEW Chartered Accountants are known for their professionalism and expertise. Professional development prepares you to successfully handle a variety of different situations that you’ll encounter throughout your career.

The ACA qualification improves your ability and performance in seven key areas:

§  Adding value
§  Communication
§  Consideration
§  Decision making
§  Problem solving
§  Team working
§  Technical competence

THE ACA

The ACA is a highly reputed and internationally recognised business and finance qualification that places its trainees at the top of their professions. Combining rigorous theoretical knowledge with practical work experience and best practices, the ACA requires trainees to undertake at least 450 days of training with one of our 2,850 Authorised Training Employers (ATEs) worldwide during their coursework. Some of our prestigious ATEs include BDO Malaysia, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Genting, KPMG, Petronas and PwC. Training for the ACA usually takes between 3 to 5 years, depending on prior qualifications.

THE ACA JOURNEY*comprises of three stages*

Certificate Level – introduces students to the fundamentals of accountancy, finance and business. Most students can complete the six modules at this level within a year. Others may be eligible for credit if they have prior study of these modules at a degree level.

Professional Level – build on the fundamentals with application modules, which demonstrate how their knowledge can be put into practice through real-life scenarios.

Advanced Level – train your skills as a business advisor and communicator through two integrated technical exams, requiring the student to apply their financial reporting, taxation, audit and assurance, and ethics knowledge, along with a unique case study exam.

CFAB*a stepping stone to the ACA*

CFAB (Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business) provides key foundational knowledge in finance and accounting principles, and is most suitable for non-accounting students and graduates who wish to gain a solid introduction into the world of finance and accounting, while getting an edge over their peers early on in their career.

The certificate is based on the knowledge modules of the ACA programme and can give advanced standing to trainees who choose to pursue the full ACA later on.
